Dr. Binoy J. Paul
Dr. Binoy J. Paul is one of the most respected rheumatologists in India, with over 35 years of clinical, teaching, and research experience. He established the first dedicated rheumatology clinic in North Kerala at Government Medical College, Calicut, in 1990 — a milestone that transformed the care of patients with arthritis and autoimmune diseases in the region.
Over the years, Dr. Paul has evaluated and treated thousands of patients with complex rheumatic diseases, combining deep clinical insight with compassionate patient care. His areas of special expertise include crystal arthritis (especially gout), rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, vasculitis, and connective tissue disorders.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Paul has played a pivotal role in advancing rheumatology in India. He has served as National Secretary, Vice President, and President of the Indian Rheumatology Association (Kerala Chapter). His leadership and vision have helped establish strong foundations for rheumatology training and practice across the country.
Dr. Paul has authored three textbooks in rheumatology, written multiple chapters in standard medical texts, and published over 50 scientific papers in leading national and international journals. He has also written a monograph on Gout and Other Crystal-Induced Arthritis, reflecting his long-standing research and clinical interest in this field. He was a member of the expert committee that developed the 2021 APLAR Clinical Practice Guidelines for Gout.
For his outstanding service to medicine, Dr. Paul has received several prestigious honors, including the IRA Master Award, Zydus Oration Award of the Indian Rheumatology Association, Dr. M. N. Passey Award, Dr. V. C. Mathew Roy Memorial Oration Award, Dr. Eapen Samuel Memorial Award, Dr. Sankara Pillai Memorial Award, and Dr. T. K. Chandrasekharan Memorial Oration Award.

Dr. Athul Paul
Dr. Athul Paul is a dedicated Consultant Rheumatologist specializing in the diagnosis and management of autoimmune and musculoskeletal diseases. He currently practices at Dr. Binoy's Arthritis and Rheumatology Centre (BAARC), Calicut, and also serves as Consultant Rheumatologist at KMCT Medical College, Calicut.
He provides comprehensive, evidence-based care for patients with arthritis and complex rheumatologic disorders. His clinical approach emphasizes accurate diagnosis, individualized therapy, and holistic long-term care focused on restoring health, mobility, and quality of life.
Dr. Athul completed his MBBS from Government Stanley Medical College, Chennai (2012–2018) and MD in General Medicine from SRM Medical College, Chennai (2020–2023). He subsequently pursued a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Rheumatology at Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore—one of India's premier centers for autoimmune and connective tissue diseases—where he developed extensive clinical and academic expertise in rheumatology.
